The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season introduces a large cast of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
