Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after spring of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet defended four early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
